Video: Performing and Directing Stunts in Independent Projects

Last month, two established Hollywood stuntmen—Allen Robinson (Justified, Grimm) and Rich Minga (Paul, Law Abiding Citizen)—visited San Diego Filmmakers for a panel discussion about performing and directing stunts in independent projects.

  • For more than 25 years, and with more than 100 films under his belt, Allen Robinson has worked as a stuntman and stunt coordinator. An experienced stuntman, he is skilled in stunt and precision driving, motorcycles, rigging, wire work, water work, fire, rappelling, skydiving, and balloon piloting. Robinson has performed in big-studio productions with A-list casts, and doubled for such stars as Tom Hanks, Jim Carrey, Julian McMahon, John Snyder, Matthew Lillard, Timothy Olyphant, Ali Suliman, and Alan Ruck. You can visit his website at www.allenrobinson.com.
  • Rich Minga has more than 15 years of experience as a SAG stuntman. With the support of stuntmen and fellow offroad racers Steve Holliday and Gary Hymes, Minga began his career in 1995 with the hit television series Baywatch and the Steven Seagal-fronted motion picture Under Siege 2: Dark Territory. Since then, Minga has performed driving and motorcycle stunts, fights, fires, and falls in productions across the country and overseas. You can visit his website at www.richminga.com.

Thanks to Len Savage of West Bay Productions, San Diego Filmmakers is proud to present a video recording of the event. We hope you enjoy the discussion as much as we did!

Next: On Tuesday, February 14, San Diego Filmmakers will welcome veteran director Michael Brueggemeyer and Hollywood makeup artist Katie Betian who will share their insights into the process of creating a look using makeup and lighting. Don't miss out on this exciting, free event!
