Happy New Year San Diego Filmmakers!!

Come and be a part  of another exciting event with an incredible guest. The Award Winning Composer and Music Producer Leah Curtis will share with us her world-class experience with Music and Film.

About Leah Curtis

Leah Curtis composes and produces original music scores and soundtracks for a select array of creative partners: film directors, orchestras, choirs, choreographers, songwriters and game developers. She envisions a unique musical voice for each project, drawing from diverse sound worlds including orchestral, electronic, world music, acoustic and trip hop, engaging listeners worldwide.

A Fulbright Scholar, Curtis was mentored in composition by Oscar winner John Corigliano (The Red Violin), Jack Smalley (Charlie’s Angels), Jeff Rona (God of War III) and Tom Haines at the Aspen Music Festival, Guy Garnett at the University of Illinois and performance with contemporary specialists Kathleen Gallagher and Laura Chislett. In the orchestral world, she has composed and recorded with many leading ensembles and musicians, including the Sydney and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, and the Hollywood and Prague Studio Symphony Orchestras. She is just as comfortable collaborating with bands, doing electronic remixes and creating unique sound worlds that crossover many music styles.

Curtis has composed a number of film scores and soundtracks, including To Rest in Peace (USA, Kuwait) U-238 (USA), Grace (USA), Interval (USA mandarin with subtitles), and The Spirit of the Sword (Japan) just to name a few.

Curtis holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of New South Wales in Sydney Australia, studied composition and conducting at the University of Illinois in the US, and holds an MA Hons in Film Scoring from Australia’s highly decorated National Film School (AFTRS).

Accolades include a Hollywood Music Award, 3 nominations (including Best Original Score), The Reg Waite Award, finalist in the Young Australian of the Year Awards, the Dame Joan Sutherland Award (NY), winner of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Composer Competition (Australia), the BMI Jerry Goldsmith Film Scoring Award (Los Angeles), the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop (LosAngeles) and Curtis is a Queen’s Trust Awardee (Australia). She speaks and writes about her music (Moving Pictures Magazine).

Curtis is currently developing scores for a number international productions and shares her time between Los Angeles USA, Melbourne Australia and other locations where projects take her.
